I find my inspiration from being in the gardens, I love the ambience of them and being surrounded by colour, positivity and happy things. The gardens have all of that!
I get ideas for my designs around the gardens and nature, sometimes when I see a flower / plant leaning a particular way or grouped together in a particular fashion, it gives me a light bulb moment and the whole design comes to mind. Whilst other times I just doodle and hope it all comes together. Being outside in the gardens helps me to visualise and map out my ideas.
When I am out and about in nature, I see certain scenes which gives me a thrill and a craving to create - that's goes for making rugs, drawing and painting. Sometimes I get so much inspiration that I wish I had more than two hands. I also pick up ideas from random things for example, I loved a section of a pattern from my woolly jumper and redesigned it.
I plan out my designs on paper initially, then I draw a rough sketch of the layout on graph paper then I retrace that and tweak it until I am happy with it, at which point it's all ready to colour and outline.
